08/06/2012

FIQs Executive Director, Mexhide Spahija, attended the European Foundation Centre (EFC) Annual General Assembly and Conference in Belfast, Northern Ireland on the 6-8 June 2012.  The theme of the conference was “Peace through social justice a role for foundations”. Around 500 people from all over the world took part in the AGA and Conference, where experiences and knowledge was being shared amongst participants.

This was the first time FIQ participated in the conference due to FIQ being granted a scholarship for attending the conference by EFC. FIQs Director found the conference interesting and inspiring; one of the most inspiriting moments was the speech made by Astrid Bonfiled from The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund.

Ms Spahija attended several seminars, amongst them: Communicating to key audiences, How can philanthropic investment in education make a difference to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Structural Funds: A leveraging tool for foundations andRoma inclusion in Europe today. Besides attending educative seminars Ms Spahija had the opportunity to network with several other foundations where ideas and experiences were being shared.
