Smirë, Viti, 7 January

Village of Smirë in the Municipality of Viti is one of the rare villages in Kosovo running its own a website, which is maintained by three village activists, who upload important information about the village on daily basis, and also keep track of important events from the life of this village with 4,400 inhabitants. In the first anniversary of the running of the website, around 40 people got together to talk about this activity and discuss also about other aspects of civic activism. "The website was created in order to virtually connect all people from Smira wherever they are and this has happened, because it was visited by many fellow villagers here and elsewhere.  "This makes us feel good, as this was the reason why we created it in the first place, to inform people on activities and developments taking place in the village", said Tefik Salihu.
Ramadan Rrahmani, who lives in Geneva, on behalf of the Presidency of Smira people in the Switzerland, expressed his gratitude to those who developed and maintain this website. You are doing an excellent job. From your presentation, from pictures one can notice that there are a lot of things you can do by yourselves by being an organized community. FIQ may and wants to support you to continue this initiative upon you willingness to build your own system of community organization. With this very spirit you may become a model for other villages throughout the country", said Haliti.
